Michael Stahl is a full-time freelance journalist and writer from Astoria, Queens, in New York City. A former high school English teacher, with an MA in English Literature, Michael has more than a decade of experience as a writer, and has interviewed world-famous artists, politicians, athletes, advocates, and many other personalities. His articles have appeared in Rolling Stone, Vice, Vulture, the Village Voice, CityLab, Quartz, InsideHook, Narratively and elsewhere. His first book, as co-author of Big Sexy: Bartolo Colón in His Own Words, an autobiography of the Major League Baseball pitcher, was published by Abrams Books in May 2020. He got his start focusing heavily on human interest stories, profiling compelling people from as close as his hometown and as far away as Australia. Throughout his reporting he’s written about the arts and culture, mental health, history, politics, dating and relationships, business, real estate, and other topics.
