Jia is a freelance journalist based out of Lowell, MA. She’s written for digital media, newspapers, magazines, journals, radio, and podcasts. Her work has been featured in VICE, The Moth Radio Hour on NPR, Public Radio International, KoreAm Journal, Appalachia, and Appalachia Outdoors.
She’s interested in immigrant experiences, survivor stories, the great outdoors, and anything pertaining to bodies of water. She’s currently working on a book about her late father, an unadopted street child of the Korean War era.
Jia has her B.A. in Philosophy from The University of California, an M.A. in Pacific and International Affairs from UC San Diego, and an M.S. in Journalism from Columbia Journalism School.
